I just finished this window for a client in Chicago. Came out really nice I think.
All clear textures and clear beveled glass. 18" x 32"

that didn't match except the odd dark green ones in the center.

Well, I'm finally getting back to that arched window. You can see it in the original frame in earlier posts. It's over 100 years old removed from a 200 year old church. It was put in in the late 1800's. I've taken it apart, cleaned it and replaced most of the broken pieces. One piece left to replace. Then it will be soldered and then it's for sale!

Here are 2 pieces from the bottom section. The one on the right has already been cleaned and you can see what a difference it makes. It has to be cleaned with steel wool and then washed with soap and water with a scrub brush. Then if there's paint, etc. still left on the glass I use whatever I can to get it off without scratching the glass. This particular glass is very soft so I can't use a razor blade or something sharp because it started scratching it. I wound up using a hard plastic fid, which is a different stained glass tool for opening up the channel in the lead. Worked ok. When these painters are painting the churches they splash paint all over the window and get it all over the edges of the glass when they are painting all the trim. They make a huge mess. Looks great when cleaned though.

Here is the panel taken out of the frame and lead. There were a couple casualties the pink/purple piece on the right side didn't make it. Not surprising. The large pieces and the really pointy long ones are usually the ones that break. Glass just gets more brittle the longer it sits and it's not as forgiving when asking it to bend! I have chipped all the left over caulking and glazing compound from the glass, around both sides and the outer edge of each piece has to be gone over to remove it. Pretty time consuming. The one piece of green on the bottom has been cleaned. The rest of the window is ready to be cleaned.

This is the current project. It's one of the pieces taken out of the church that I have been working on. It's at least 100 years old. The building itself is over 200. The windows were replaced about 100 years ago. It is in very bad shape, very dirty from years of exposure to the weather, dirt, etc. The lead is literally falling apart. You can't see it from the picture but the panel is bowing out really bad. It's really hard to get out of the frame. These old frames were put together with way too many huge nails. It's hard to even find them in the joints. Once you do find them, it's really hard to get them out and pull the frame apart with out breaking the glass. The glass is caulked in with something, it's rock hard after sitting so long that I have to use a hammer and chisel to get it away from the window edge.

Hindu Ohm panel finished, it's wine color and sage green. Glass doesn't photograph colors correctly all the time. It wasn't cooperating today.

Here is the Hindu Ohm symbol cut out of art glass. It's ready to be copper foiled and then soldered and edged.

Here is the design for a custom window of the Hindu symbol Ohm. The symbol represents the Trinity in the Hindu religion. It is 18" in diameter.
